Privacy Policy at Anchor Point Health
Privacy and Confidentiality Statement – Anchor Point
At Anchor Point, we are committed to providing safe, ethical, and confidential support in line with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Code of Ethics (2020), the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and relevant state legislation.
We understand that trust is at the heart of all therapeutic relationships. Your privacy is respected at every step, and the information you share with us is treated with care, integrity, and professionalism.
What Information Do We Collect?
We collect only the information necessary to provide you with high-quality, tailored therapeutic support. This may include your personal details, background, mental and physical health history, and relevant educational, social, or legal information. We will always explain why we are collecting information and seek your informed consent.
How Do We Use and Share Information?
Your information is used to support your care and is stored securely. We will never share your information without your permission, unless there is a legal or ethical obligation to do so. This may occur if:
There is a risk of harm to you or someone else
There is a child protection concern
We are required by law (e.g., subpoena or court order)
In all cases, we will aim to discuss this with you first, unless it is unsafe or not possible.
Confidentiality in Group Work
While we encourage a safe and respectful space in group sessions, we cannot guarantee confidentiality of information shared by other participants. We ask all members to respect each other’s privacy and trust.
Your Rights
You have the right to ask to see your notes at any time.
You can request corrections to your personal information.
You are encouraged to ask questions or raise concerns about how your information is handled.
Our Commitment
Anchor Point practitioners are qualified social workers and mental health professionals who practice in accordance with the AASW’s ethical principles of respect for persons, social justice, and professional integrity. We engage in regular supervision, reflective practice, and professional development to maintain the highest standards of care.
Your Information & Note Taking
All client information is stored securely in an electronic, password-protected system.
To reduce admin time and focus more on face-to-face work, we sometimes use an AI transcription tool to help us write notes. This tool only types what we instruct it to—it doesn’t make decisions or store any personal information outside of what we tell it to write.
We’ll always talk with you about this in your initial session to check whether you're comfortable with us using it. If you're not sure, that’s completely okay—we can simply take notes together during our session. No pressure, and no offense taken. AI is still new to many of us, and your comfort always comes first.
Remember, you're always welcome to ask to see your notes at any time.
