Director Anchor Point MH
Accredited Social Worker
BSW, AASW, Dip MH, JP (NSW)
Hello, I’m Sam, the Director of Anchor Point Mental Health, and I’m deeply passionate about supporting people in their mental health journey. Having worked extensively in primary healthcare, behavioural support, and complex mental health, I’ve seen firsthand how important early intervention and ongoing support can be across all stages of life.
At Anchor Point Mental Health, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to live a balanced and fulfilling life. We provide mental health support to individuals aged 10 years and over, with a focus on understanding each person’s unique experiences, strengths, and challenges.
My approach is grounded in evidence-based social work practice, with a focus on practical, real-world strategies that support meaningful and lasting change.
Why Anchor Point Health Was Created
Mental health challenges can arise at any stage of life, with each person navigating their own emotional, social, and psychological experiences. While adolescence is a particularly important time of development, the need for accessible, practical, and supportive mental health care extends across all ages.
As this need continued to grow within the community, it became clear that more could be done to provide meaningful, real-world support. Anchor Point Mental Health was created to offer a space where people feel understood, supported, and equipped with the skills to navigate life’s challenges.
We utilise outdoor therapy and evidence-based approaches such as mindfulness, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and solution-focused strategies to support individuals in their therapeutic journey. Through these approaches, we aim to build resilience, strengthen emotional regulation, and develop practical coping skills that support long-term wellbeing.
To improve accessibility, services are offered not only in a traditional setting, but also through home visits and community-based sessions, allowing support to occur in environments where individuals feel most comfortable.
Our Vision for Mental Health Support
At Anchor Point Health, we believe mental health support should be engaging, empowering, and individualised. Every person is unique, and we take a personalised approach to ensure that the support we offer fits each person's specific needs, goals, and aspirations. Whether it's through one-on-one therapy, group sessions, or engaging in therapeutic outdoor activities, we create a safe, supportive environment where clients can thrive and build the resilience they need for long-term well-being.

Fundamental principle - Uphold the UN Convention on Human Rights
At Anchor Point Health, our work is grounded in the ethical and professional frameworks that guide quality social work practice. We operate in alignment with Federal legislation, the AASW Code of Ethics, and the AASW Practice Standards, ensuring that all therapeutic support is provided with integrity, accountability, and respect for the dignity and worth of every person. Our commitment also extends to upholding the United Nations Convention on Human Rights, advocating for equity, social justice, and the protection of fundamental freedoms. Central to our approach is the delivery of culturally safe and inclusive care, which honours the diverse identities, experiences, and worldviews of the people and communities we support.
Acknowledgement of Country
At Anchor Point, we acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waters where we live, work, and walk—the Wreck Bay and Jerrinja Peoples of the Yuin Nation. We pay deep respect to Elders past and present, and to the knowledge, strength, and stories that have guided these lands for thousands of generations.
We honour the ongoing connection First Nations peoples have to Country, community, culture, and healing. We are committed to listening, learning, and walking alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in a spirit of respect, truth-telling, and cultural humility.
As we offer space for grounding and growth, we acknowledge that First Nations people have always known the power of connection to land, to each other, and to spirit.
