Hello, I’m Sam the director of Anchor Point Health, and I’m deeply passionate about supporting young people in their mental health journey. Having worked extensively in primary healthcare and complex mental health, I've seen firsthand how critical early intervention is, especially during adolescence—a time of change, growth, and self-discovery.

At Anchor Point Health, we believe that everyone, regardless of age, deserves the opportunity to live a balanced and fulfilled life. While we specialise in working with adolescents, we are proud to offer mental health support to individuals of all ages.

Why Anchor Point Health Was Created

Adolescence is a critical time when young people face unique challenges in their emotional, social, and mental development. As the need for accessible and youth-focused mental health support grows, I realized that more needed to be done in our community to address these needs. That's why Anchor Point Health was created—to provide a space where adolescents can find the support they need and develop the skills to thrive.

We use outdoor therapy and evidence-based practices like mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and solution-focused approaches to engage young people in their healing process. Through these methods, we help them develop resilience, improve emotional regulation, and learn the coping skills necessary to navigate the challenges life presents.

Our Vision for Mental Health Support

At Anchor Point Health, we believe mental health support should be engaging, empowering, and individualised. Every person is unique, and we take a personalised approach to ensure that the support we offer fits each person's specific needs, goals, and aspirations. Whether it's through one-on-one therapy, group sessions, or engaging in therapeutic outdoor activities, we create a safe, supportive environment where clients can thrive and build the resilience they need for long-term well-being.

Fundamental principle - Uphold the UN Convention on Human Rights

At Anchor Point Health, our work is grounded in the ethical and professional frameworks that guide quality social work practice. We operate in alignment with Federal legislation, the AASW Code of Ethics, and the AASW Practice Standards, ensuring that all therapeutic support is provided with integrity, accountability, and respect for the dignity and worth of every person. Our commitment also extends to upholding the United Nations Convention on Human Rights, advocating for equity, social justice, and the protection of fundamental freedoms. Central to our approach is the delivery of culturally safe and inclusive care, which honours the diverse identities, experiences, and worldviews of the people and communities we support.

Acknowledgement of Country

At Anchor Point, we acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waters where we live, work, and walk—the Wreck Bay and Jerrinja Peoples of the Yuin Nation. We pay deep respect to Elders past and present, and to the knowledge, strength, and stories that have guided these lands for thousands of generations.

We honour the ongoing connection First Nations peoples have to Country, community, culture, and healing. We are committed to listening, learning, and walking alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in a spirit of respect, truth-telling, and cultural humility.

As we offer space for grounding and growth, we acknowledge that First Nations people have always known the power of connection—to land, to each other, and to spirit.
